Fabulous curated collection of art and artifacts; great art books; local (and not so local) ceramics, vintage clothing, writing implements and notebooks, soaps, body oils, incense and all manner of artful ‘objets’. I always find something interesting and unexpected. A must for finding the perfect gift for the person with unique taste. Very cool shop!

Salt is one of the most beautifully and intentionally curated stores, I have ever been to, anywhere. Sarah has such incredible taste in vintage clothing, houseware collectibles, beautifully hand crafted jewelry, plants🌿, books, ceramics, soaps and art from local artists and makers, and so much more! Salt is nestled perfectly in the amazing Tannery Arts Center, home to several artist studios, dance studios, art galleries, printmakers. Tannery Arts Center is a great space for just walking around before and after a thorough shop and deep dive at Salt California. I live 1.5 hours away, but make a point to drive down at least once a month to shop and visit Salt. Sarah's displays are always changing as she brings in new finds and treasures. The best is if you see something that she highlights on her social media platform, you can immediately message her, inquire about an item you saw, she will message you back promptly and either put it aside for you, or ship it to you directly. Visiting Sarah and Salt California is a regular highlight, always excited to step in and look around, never leaving empty handed. Everything is reasonably priced, it is hard not to buy every single thing! Added bonus, Sarah is amazing, full stop! The perfect place to shop for gifts to give away and keep for yourself. ❣❣🦋

Must visit this shop in Santa Cruz. Sarah is top notch jewelry designer as well as a collector of objets d'art which are not necessarily very pricey but you value for their beauty and craftsmanship. In addition to earrings I bought some wonderful Japanese incense, a small Asian inspired round wooden box with cover for my smaller earrings I wear frequently, and a long necklace to dress up some plain T’s I wear in the summer. I spent a good bit of time in the shop and enjoyed the conversation with Sarah as she re-strung one of her necklaces I inadvertently broke and which was a gift from a friend. Here are some pics of my “finds.” It took an hour to drive from the East Bay to enjoy the day at the beach to include, of course, a visit at the Salt Jewelry studio and then lunch!

There are so few stores where you can find actual surprise and delight, not just pretty things. Salt conveys a unique vision and style but also probably has at least one treasure for anybody lucky enough to stop by.

Salt is hands down my favorite shop in Santa Cruz. It’s beautifully laid out with attention to the senses in terms of color, mood, and what pleases the eye. There are treasures galore to explore from Sarah’s striking handmade jewelry to plants to vintage clothes to soap and candles. I never know what I will leave with when I’m going to visit but I know it will be something unique and special. Prices are very reasonable and it feels so good to support this business!
